Don’t Waste Your Life
by John Piper

Reviewed by Robert Fields

In the early chapters of the book, Piper sets the table by stating that believers and servants of the Lord should be driven in life by a single passion of giving your all completely to the cause of Christ. The cause of Christ is to build the body of Christ by reaching others with whatever it takes to bring them to salvation in Jesus Christ. The warning of the author is very clear in every chapter – to get caught-up in all the interests and influences of our world would be a waste of life.

IL-MO Sunday Update

Wednesday, July 27th, 2005

We are close to reaching our goal of $2,000.00 (which is also a line item in our 2005 Budget) for IL-MO Sunday offerings. To date $1,685.89 has been given by the following 11 churches: Faith Baptist, Camp Point; Cottage Hills Baptist, Cottage Hills; First Regular Baptist, Grant Park; Regular Baptist, Griggsville; Delhi Baptist, Jerseyville; Faith Baptist, Mattoon; Germantown Hills Baptist, Metamora; Faith Baptist, Morris; Fellowship Baptist, Mt. Zion; Calvary Baptist, Quincy; First Baptist, Shelbyville. I am aware of at least 2 other churches which are planning to receive an IL-MO offering yet this year. Will you help us reach our goal?

It is a very simple promotion because it is designed to be done through the Sunday School. On IL-MO Sunday (whatever date you choose!) we ask everyone who attends Sunday School to give $1.00 toward the needs of our Association. Then we ask the church to match the amount given. Good participation from our 72 churches would go a long way in helping our Fellowship get “over the hump” of constantly struggling with finances. No church would have to do a lot by itself if many would participate. “Together we can go farther.”
