A Word for Women: Nov 2005

by Eileen Fields
Taken from the Nov 2005 Trumpet

Modern day communications at times seem somewhat overwhelming to me! Can you remember the days before computers? It really wasn’t all that long ago. When I first heard about computers in the late 1980′s, I thought to myself, I’ll never need one of those. What would I use a computer for??? When Bob became director of the Iowa Regular Baptist Camp, I became camp secretary. The camp had a computer. I was advised to wait until the summer was over before I began to learn about that machine I would “never need.” By the time we moved to a new ministry four years later, we were not only computer literate, but we bought our own personal computer. Now, we think we can’t live without one! What would we do without e-mail, all the information at our fingertips over the internet, and all the other things our computers do? I am lagging behind a little, though, because I refuse to pay for a high speed connection-dial-up suits me just fine. It’s slow, but it works!

Truly Thankful

Thursday, November 24th, 2005

A Note from Bob Fields

A Bible verse I committed to memory many years ago is Colossians 3:15, “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.”

I don’t know about you, but from time to time I struggle with being truly thankful. When my day is filled with unforeseen interruptions – when things don’t work as they should or when they break down – when I’m not near as productive as I think I should be – when others make demands on my time – when I have to stop doing my own thing to do something for someone else – when things just aren’t going my way – I must confess I often struggle with being truly thankful.

YOU CAN STILL HELP BEFORE THIS YEAR IS OVER!

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2005

At the beginning of 2005, we set a goal to have 25-30 of our IL-MO ARBC churches participate in an IL-MO Sunday offering. The goal was $2,000.00. In 2004, we had 14 churches who responded and the giving was $2,057.40. So far this year 15 churches have participated and $2,491.49 has been given by: Faith Baptist, Camp Point; Cottage Hills Baptist, Cottage Hills; Faith Baptist, Glen Carbon; First Regular Baptist, Grant Park; Regular Baptist, Griggsville; Delhi Baptist, Jerseyville; Faith Baptist, Mattoon; Germantown Hills Baptist, Metamora; Faith Baptist, Morris; Fellowship Baptist, Mt. Zion; Book Road Baptist, Naperville; Emmanuel Baptist, Naperville; Calvary Baptist, Quincy; First Baptist, Shelbyville; Silvis Heights Baptist Church, Silvis. Will you help us add to our total before this year ends? Just imagine what it could be if 10-15 churches would still respond before this year comes to a close.

BOB & EILEEN’S MINISTRY TRIP TO SOUTH AFRICA

Monday, November 21st, 2005

Eileen and I (together with another couple who are friends of ours from Rushville, IL) will be traveling to Cape Town, South Africa to minister together with missionaries Tim and Barb Mowers. I will be speaking at their yearly kick-off Family Camp and our friends will be teaching the children’s classes during the Family Camp. We believe there may be a number of jobs that we can do to help them finish the new church they are building. We will be flying out of Peoria on January 20th, 2006 and returning home on February 3rd. We have updated our passports and purchased our tickets (just under $2,500.00). We are aware that there will be additional expenses incurred during our trip and our time in South Africa.

We are truly excited for this opportunity God has afforded us to serve Him through the ministries of Grace Baptist Church in South Africa. We have designated some of the monies we have recently received from having Revival Meetings, a Family Life Conference and Bible Conference with three of our IL-MO churches. If God would burden you to be a part of this ministry by your prayers or financial support, it would be greatly appreciated -Bob Fields
